Initial Placement Motion (IPM)

IPM, found in numerous SuccessMaker courses, determines the level where the student is ready to learn - a level that is neither too easy or too difficult. Here are 3 students, each enrolled at level 4.

During placement, adjustment is made to the level based on the student’s responses. One student’s placement was determined to be below the enrolled level while the other students were placed  nearly a year above the  enrollment level. Student instruction then proceeds at their appropriate level.

IPM ensures that each student works at an appropriate level in the courseware providing  individualized instruction.  While in IPM, students are assessed within the context of learning rather than using instructional time taking a test to determine their instructional level.
