SuccessMaker History SuccessMaker’s foundations go back to the pioneering work on intelligent tutoring led by Professor Dr. Patrick Suppes at StanfordUniversity beginning in the mid-1960s (Suppes, 1981). A guiding idea of this work was to develop a structured, comprehensive, and deep curriculum, to be presented to the individual learner in the manner and the rate best suited to that learner, as determined by the learner’s responses to the system. That workis what became SuccessMaker and the company Suppes created wasComputer Curriculum Corporation (CCC) which was later purchased by Pearson. The video is a BBC Documentary on SuccessMaker done in 1998. Dr. Suppes is featured in the video along with a teacher in the UK who has integrated SuccessMaker into his class. |
